I want to turn a childs sandbox into a vegetable garden. It is made of wood. It's about 3 by 3 in size. And about a foot deep. How deep should the dirt be for best results? Oh and since i will be adding new dirt is there anything I should add to it?

A foot deep is enough, but the garden plot should be at least one and a half feet high. When adding new dirt you can also add compost for nutrients and coconut coir for soil aeration.
The dirt should be several inches. You want to make sure you plant tomatoes and peppers very deep. They normally tell you to bury about 80% of the plant to insure strong roots.
Fill the thing up, the more black rich soil the better. Add a fertilizer to the top soil. Plant what you desire and spread a little more fertilizer over the planted soil. The best plant fertilizer is called Four All Seasons, http://www.biosourcefertilizer.com, this stuff works great and your neighbors will be asking you your advice. I had the biggest tomatoes last year with this stuff, like nothing i have ever seen.
arr-he missed out the mighty parsnip!!!
How To Plant & Care For Your Rose Garden.
I too have done the barefoot weeding thing. It is soooo much easier to wash the mud from your feet than from your shoes. The only thing that deters me is the fact that I have used sheep manure to fertilize and am afraid of picking up a serious infection if I were to have a scratch or wound on my foot. But sometimes I have no control and end up in there shoeless.
Moth balls work. My mother had a problem this summer and it worked very well..
I checked in at Asian Garden Mall (9200 Bolsa Ave) on #Yelp
Assuming that the garden is a quadrilateral, the question is asking what two dimensions, length and width, multiplied together would give you the greatest area.
The easiest way to do this is to simply divide the perimeter given by two. This would give you 26 in this case. Then keep multiplying two numbers that add up to 26 until you have determined which pair gives you the highest product. In this case, I believe the answer would be dimensions of 13 x 13, meaning the garden would have to be a square. Make sense?
I'm new to this whole answering questions thing so I hope this helps. haha
I can't imagine any vegetable plant that would be worth while if it didn't show it's self to be edible within a few weeks. I think you need to turn over the soil and start again. Consult a near by nurseryman for the best plant varieties for you area. Experiment and have fun. If something doesn't work, then you know not to try it next year.
