Some vegetables don’t seem to have a problem with their roots coming through the peat pots but I think some do. In fact you’ll see that when pulling some plants up at the end of the season. Their roots never make it very far out the pots. I could be totally wrong but that’s my experience…….. Donald
LOL, “it’s early in the year and I’m gettin anxious and gotta do somethin even if it is wrong”… Wow, sounds like me, except I have never been honest enough to admit it. Love it!!! I learned a lot on this one, about myself, and about pinching off the bottom of the pot. Thanks Donald. -Tom
These look to be about 2 gals…… Donald
how big is the container that you plant them in?
IMHO one of the best kept secrets of gardening is “keeping it simple” ……. Donald
It’s the way to go…… Donald

I use miracle grow and follow the directions on the container and the recommendations for each type of vegetable…… Donald
how often do you fertilize them-and with what?

You need to start your seeds 6-8 weeks before planting them in the garden. Don’t use seeds from store bought vegetables, buy your seeds at the garden center or order online…… Donald

Great video, i hope that I can grow some produce this winter.
I never understood why it was recommended that tomatoes be planted so deep until a couple of years ago.
I didn’t know that about the little hairs on the side of the tomater. very informative, thanks.
I’ve already eaten tomatoes off that plant in the video. First of the season and they tasted so good, just ask my grandkids.
How’s those tomatoes doing?

Great video!

Thanks for video. I am happy to see you have added two more recently. I too am getting antsy about getting started, but here in Atlanta it is still very cold (we had snow this morning). I have my seed potatoes ready to go and will be planting tomatos as well.
Keep the videos coming.

Raise it with a couple of heavy duty jacks and put it on rollers. Round fence posts approx. 6" in diameter will do. Roll it across the lawn which should incur minimal damage. I had an 8' x 8' shed moved like this and it worked like a charm.
Enjoying a vegetable curry soup & looking out the window. This morning was foggy & gloomy, but that gave way to beautiful sunshine!

You can either dig every thing up and hope you get all the roots or you can "nuke" it. I see that it's not that big of an area. Go to the store and buy some brush/vegatation killer and spray the area you want to plant in. If you have pets that you need to keep out of there just buy a few of those green metal posts and run some chicken wire. Once it is all dead you will need to dig up any deep roots and then till the area. If you don't have a tiller you can just turn the soil with a shovel. I would suggest that you "double" dig the area. This will ensure that you get deep enough to promote good root growth and to be able to remove the stuff you want to get rid of. You will want to read the label on the stuff you spray. You will want to use something that will let you replant according to your needs. When thats all done you should add some peatmoss and till or turn it in with a shovel. Then design what you want planted there, whether shady or sun and plant away. Good luck.
since when was apples bananas and lemon vegetables
Tomatoes you can allready plant at home. Wait until you can be sure there are no frozen nights coming up. ( It depends where you live – over here in Germany we wait until the middle of May ).
Squashs and zucchini you can plant whenever you want. They´ll grow as soon as the soil is warm enough.
