Purple hull peas are one of my favorite in the garden. It's easy to tell when they're ready to pick.

@loveofvegetables … That happens every year, I’ve yet to have one bother me while harvesting……Donald
My purple hull peas as full of wasps, I am not sure why but this is the second year this has happened and therefore I am scared to come close to gathering my peas.
thanks
@thalx … Glad it helped…….Donald
Awesome, thanks! “When-To-Harvest” is one of my biggest problems, and what helps me the best is to actually show me examples of each – early, perfect, late, just like you did in this video!
@mandojb … Thanks…….Donald
Great Video !!!!
@TheCajuntransplant … Mine don’t turn that color. LOL Well most of the time at least. I was getting lots of request for these types of videos soooooooo……Donald
@mhpgardener … Not only are the “Top Pick” easy to harvest but they also taste real good. Got some for supper tonight……Donald
Heeeeyyyyy, you forgot the stage where they are slimy, dark, and growing gray hairs all over them…lol Just saying! I like these “when to harvest video’s” you are on to something big!!!!!!
Thats what I like about PH peas. They “tell” you when they’re ready. I’ve seen some of the other peas that just turn from green to tan, and it was hard to decide which ones to pick. I like the simpler approach !
I grew some Broom Corn this year but having trouble knowing when exactly to harvest it….But it was fun to grow anyhow. Thanks for your video’s
@TheGardenTech … They’re good at that stage. I like the one in the middle, half purple……..Donald
@happymusics … I don’t like trimming branches on my tomatoes; I just let em grow…….Donald
Great video. I like to pick mine when they are have the purple stripe on them. Otherwise, they usually get too ripe on me before I pick again.
Thank you. How about some tomato tips? My tomatoes are so tall/lush that it’s like14′ long which have toppled over of course cuz my metal poles are just 8′ high. I didn’t add any fertilizer, just used compost. My question is, should I start cutting top growth to stop the height growth? It’s like a forest now and going over the neighbor’s side too.
@knyquol … Purple hull are kind of like okra, they like hot weather. To the right of the peas are 3 Cucuzza squash vines……Donald
Tried these a couple years ago and had a cool wet rainy summer and they didn’t do much of anything I’m think I’ll give em a whorl next season -just a small row- I’d have had to ask on the forum what to do so thanks for the video!!
Oh whats growing to the right of the peas?
@berishell … Thanks, glad you enjoy em…….Donald
as always cool video!
